Brown Bear photography

NaTourEst´s brown bear photography hide is the first in Estonia, offering a rare opportunity to see this forest-dweller at a close and safe distance. (Click the thumbnail to enlarge the picture.)

The hide is located in North-East Estonia in Alutaguse, an old, rich spruce forest. Click to see the map of the area. It's located on the edge of a clearing so light conditions are good. Four camera positions, two high, two lower, provide ample room for two photographers at the same time.

Optimal time for photographing the brown bear begins in late April and lasts until late June. Last season, 2009 in May and June four different bears have been seen in the feeding area so you will have a 92% chance of "taking home" a rare forest mammal on film.  You'll also want to keep your eyes open for the Golden eagle and wolf.
